Cottenham wine and beer circle is an informal club based in Cottenham just north of Cambridge. It is dedicated to the enjoyment and craft of home wine and beer making.   We hold monthly meetings at Cottenham Fire Station, at Cottenham Village College , or at members' homes, and organise other visits and activities associated with the appreciation of wine and beer.  We are a social organisation, not very serious,  and hold regular meetings.   Our aim is first to enjoy social and community events but also to promote the craft of home brewing and winemaking, to pass on advice on technique, and improve quality.  Commercial wine tastings and pub visits are well represented in our programme.  We give new members a warm welcome.

Tue. October 17   Cottenham Fire Station. 7.30

Commercial wine tasting.  We will feature six wines from South Africa, with comments from John. 
There will be a small charge for the wine.

Tue. November 21   Cottenham Fire Station. 7.30

Commercial beer tasting.  As well as a selection of featured bottled beers the bar will be open.  Everyone
(not just beer drinkers) will be accommodated in this experimental event.

Tue. December 19     Cottenham.  7.30

Pizza and mulled wine evening by kind permission of Helen and Mick.  The usual winter warmer and
preparation for Christmas.  Please bring a cooked pizza and a flask of mulled wine.

Tue. January 16   The Chequers Cottenham. 7.30

January Christmas party again, held locally this year so there should be no transport problems.  We will
arrange a special menu for our group.  This should be a good evening.

Tue. February 20   Cottenham.  7.30

Wine and cheese party by kind permission of Sue and John.  The club will provide an interesting selection
of cheeses, but bring some wine if you wish.

Tue. March 20   Cottenham Pub Crawl.  7.30

Another new development.  We will attempt to visit all the pubs in Cottenham on foot.  Details later on
where we start, no information on where we finish!

Tue. April 17   Cottenham Fire Station.  7.30

Club Annual General Meeting and wine competition. There will also be a short slide demonstration from John. 

Tue. May 17   Cottenham Fire Station.  7.30

Details to be announced later in the year.

Tue. June 19   Punt on River 7.30

Meet in central Cambridge, and take a punt out on the river for an evening of calm and tranquillity.  

Sat. July 14    Cottenham 7.30

Annual barbecue by kind permission of Sue and John.  Bring something for the table if you like, although
the club will provide the main food. The usual great summer event.

Tue. 18 September  Cottenham Fire Station 7.30

Fish and chip supper, and open meeting to plan the programme for 2007/2008.  Everybody can join in and
plan the next year.

Raffles will be held at all meetings.  Donated prizes are welcome
